City how it stands

The district information is given in detail at the Pune District site.

For a quick look, this blog summarises the parameters one would look for in search of a GCC and Manufacturing center location.

Entrepreneurial City

The city has a good Startup culture and fair share on entrepreneurial life.

Civic life

On the Ease of Living Index and Quality of Life, Pune has been ranked as the second-best city to live in India. This is owing to the overall conditions of living.

Some surveys rank Pune as a congested city. However, that is true for the old city or downtown areas. The Industrial clusters of GCC and manufacturing are located in suburban areas and these areas are fairly well spread with more modern infrastructure.

Cost of living

Pune fairs as relatively high in cost of living if compared with other cities. However, the average cost of living is lower than Bangalore and Mumbai higher than Chennai and Hyderabad and somewhat equal to Ahmedabad and Chandigarh.

Connectivity

Pune is well connected by Rail and Road infrastructure. Being 126 Km from Mumbai and Pune-Mumbai Express way the road connectivity is fairly good.

Pune’s International Connectivity has been the weakest point. It was only dependent on the local Airport and Mumbai airport which was about a 3-4 hours drive by Road.

However, Pune connectivity has been given a boost now.

    • 36 domestic flights to different destinations covering all Tire I Tire II and Tire III cities.

    • It is now an International Airport (PNQ) having direct flights to Dubai, Bangkok, and Singapore.

    • The airport also has a new Integrated Terminal Building (NITB) that offers a seamless experience for international travel. This has reduced the congestion and more flights are possible to add.

    • The new Navi Mumbai airport which is now operational and will be fully in commercial operation for domestic flights by May 2025 followed by international connectivity soon reduces the distance from 3-4 hours to 2.30 hours from any point in Pune.

    • Pune will get its new modern airport by 2029.

The Weather an advantage

The city has all round the year average temperature thus being an alternative to Bengaluru.

    • In Summer: 22°C TO 41°C.

    • In Winter:8°C TO 25°C.

It receives good rainfall mostly in Monsoon Rainfall: 650 To 700 mm
